CASE STUDY: Digital Infrastructure for a New Mental Health Ward

Project Overview

Reo Group Professional Services were engaged to deliver critical digital infrastructure and clinical systems for a newly built hospital ward.
This ward was a key project for the client, initiated to meet the rising demand for specialised mental health services. IT was delivered within a modern, secure environment, leveraging existing physical infrastructure while fully integrated with existing health services systems.

SCOPE AND KEY DELIVERABLES

This project creates an extension of existing hospital network infrastructure into a new environment. It involved the design and deployment of the following clinical systems and components:

    • RTLS (Real-Time Location Services)
    • Nurse Call System
    • Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM) integration
    • Beacon infrastructure
    • Paging system for staff communication
    • Patient internet kiosk with controlled access
    • Secure VLAN configuration, routing design, and alignment with CAHS digital standards
    • Full compliance with clinical safety and mental health infrastructure guidelines

TIMELINE & STAKEHOLDERS

Design Phase: July – October 2024 
Infrastructure & Build: September – November 2024 

Commissioning & Go-live: November – December 2025

Stakeholders included Health Services ICT, mental health and pharmacy teams, representatives from existing infrastructure & facilities, external system vendors (Real time location services (RTLS), Automated Dispensing Machine (ADM), Nurse Call, Paging), and Reo Group Professional Services consultants.
